Sautéed Lotus root

This is a Japanese side dish when you want something healthy after like a big Thanksgiving meal. 

Cut the lotus root and soak in water and some vinegar. Drain and let it dry. Put oil in pan and sauté the lotus root. After a while add soy sauce and mirin and hondashi. Mix well.

Lotus root

Soy sauce

Mirin

Hondashi 

Japanese ichimi pepper

Bonito flake

Add shichimi pepper and bonito flakes for more flavor!
